Phosphate contributes significantly (59%) to the NPK compound fertilizers formulation in Zimbabwe. Phosphate is a vital major nutritional component required by plants and as most soils in Zimbabwe are phosphate deficient, the phosphate industry is critical to agriculture.
Zimbabwe Phosphates Industries (ZimPhos) manufactures superphospates for fertilizer production, at the Msasa factory in Harare.
The factory produces single superphosphates (SSP) and triple superphosphates (TSP) from sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid and phosphate rock concentrate. These products are sold to ZFC and Windmill for production of NPK fertilizer compounds.
Under normal situations, ZimPhos is able to meet the country’s phosphate requirements.
Monocalcium phosphate (MCP) is also produced in the same plant from phosphoric acid and limestone and is used as a source of phosphates for stock feeds in the husbandry and poultry industries.
Zimphos is a leading producer of public health, industrial, and agrochemicals in Zimbabwe, with a strong focus on high-quality fertilizers, water treatment chemicals, and public health products. We are trusted partner for farmers, municipalities, and industries that depend on reliable, high-quality chemical solutions.
