Who We Are
Chemplex manufacturing activities are centered at ZimPhos, which is currently the country’s sole producer of phosphate fertilizers, aluminium sulphate for municipal water treatment, sulphuric acid and other industrial chemicals.
ZimPhos operates a large factory complex at Msasa in Harare where phosphatic fertilizers are produced using phosphate rock supplied from Dorowa Mine. Production of superphosphates at ZimPhos started in 1924 with raw bones as the source of phosphate. From 1930 to 1965 the factory expanded with the addition of new plants which included production of sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, superphosphates, aluminium sulphate and a formulation plant for veterinary and public health products.
Major investments have been made since then to increase output and modernize the technology used.
